Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

A light treatment that targets age spots, wrinkles and other skin conditions.

Younger Looking Skin with IPL Los Angeles

One of the most successful new procedures in treating fine lines and wrinkles; age and sun spots; acne and other skin conditions is the Intense Pulsed Light or IPL. IPL Los Angeles is not a laser. It is light energy that is pulsed onto the skin to treat a variety of conditions.

Different filters are used to produce light of different wavelengths that can target specific skin conditions. Dr. Kest uses the Sciton BBL-Broadband Light system to perform IPL Los Angeles treatments.

The light energy delivered by the BBL gently heats up the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed stimulates your skin cells to generate new collagen. This process helps restore your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural colors and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking. The photo-thermal energy eliminates many of the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions. Here are some of the conditions that IPL Los Angeles treats:

  • Age & Sun Spots
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Hyperpigmentation & Melasma
  • Rosacea
  • Red spots (Hemangiomas)
  • Small Facial Veins & Capillaries

IPL is a type of skin treatment known as photorejuvenation. The Kest Clinic’s IPL Los Angeles procedure is a quick, safe and non-invasive means of treating skin damage and minimizing the signs of skin aging. IPL produces long lasting, visible results with little to no downtime. You can schedule your IPL session over your lunch hour and resume your regular routine immediately after the treatment ends.

Most patients require 5 treatments performed every 3 weeks. All patients are different however and your condition may require more or less treatments.

Is there down-time with the IPL procedure?

IPL is a no down-time procedure. You will be able to return to work, exercise, apply makeup and resume all of your activities right away.

What should I expect after the treatment?

You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage.
